SailGP Britain visits the JPYC!

Hannah Mills from the SailGP Great Britain team stopped by the Jackson Park Yacht Club for an amazing visit.

She talked about her road to winning Olympic gold as well as her efforts to protect our oceans and what we can all do to save the environment that we sail & live in. Hannah inspired everyone present — especially our young female sailors.

We were so glad to welcome Hannah to the JPYC family and show her our Corinthian spirit. The club was decorated in a British theme and the galley even had fish and chips on the menu! JPYC members and JPYC Foundation youth sailors & instructors all got fired up — waving British flags and yelling “The British are coming!!!” when she walked on stage! Daryl, the Club Steward, even wore a Bobbie hat (the British police officer hat) and Rear Commodore Ken Harris wore a Beefeater/bear hat (the hats the Buckingham Palace Guards wear)!

As part of its partnership with SailGP, the JPYC Foundation “adopted” the Great Britain team during their stay in Chicago to compete in the SailGP Chicago Grand Prix on June 18 and 19. We’re so thankful that Hannah made the time to visit and wish her and the Great Britain Sail GP team luck this weekend. Sail fast!
