Adult 420 Dinghy Courses
Are you a beginner sailor looking for a safe, fun, and thorough introduction to sailing?
Are you an experience yacht-person interested in dinghy sailing/becoming 420 certified?
Are you an intermediate sailor who wants to perfect your sailing skills/learn new ones?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this course is for you!
An intensive four (4) day course spanning two (2) weekends (9am-5pm), including pre,
mid, and post course homework to maximize your on the water fun! This course includes:
Water Safety – Capsizing/righting a boat, proper radio use, man-overboard drills.
Boat Parts - Rigging, steering, and sail adjustment.
Sailing Theory - The points of sail, knots, wind and reading weather signs.
Racing - Rights of way, race starts, and race course basics.
Navigation – Voyage preparation, basic navigation, distance sailing.
Club members who successfully complete this course are automatically certified for free use of the JPYC 420 Fleet.

Session 1: Saturday May 11th and Sunday May 12th, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday May 18th and Sunday May 19th, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Session 2: Saturday Sept 14th and Sunday Sept 15th, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday Sept 21th and Sunday Sept 22th, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
